10th October 2009
Windsurfing: La Franqui-France
Wind Direction: nw
Wind Stength: 20+
Surf / Sea State: choppy
Air Temperature: 25+
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 27.79 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 30 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

A second night in the Leucate plage camping Aire we woke early and watched the sun rise J then had a long walk to the cliffs before breakfast !!! This was followed by a swim in the med ,well Mag swam and I paddled about abit !!! The wind seemed to be filling in from the nw and I was getting abit twitchy so we pack up and leave our sea view pitch L and head for the nice spot of La Fraqui-Plage where the offshore wind is cross off passing several windsurfers out in the Etang-the first we had seen!!! Park in prime spot in the square next to another English windsurfer who had already used 7.8 and 5m sails so sail choice was difficult as with all offshore winds it can be abit up and down.I decided on a cautious approach and rigged the 6.4 which was abit under so after a couple of runs came and changed to the 7m !!! by which time the wind had increased !!!! I had some great runs up the coast towards Port-la-Nouvelle but it was beating most of the time as I did’nt want to get too far offshore and I tried to get to the flatter water closer to the shore but the wind was lighter there hence the disappointing times L but it is a great place to sail withe the mountains as your backdrop and nice to be out with loads of windsurfers and kiters J Only sad that someone switched the wind off and I had abit of a struggle back on the 90 lt. Board !!!! There is talk of some big winds over the next few days !!! but sadly we have to be back in Calais 6 o clock Sunday evening so I can squeeze another morning so we have moved to Grissan in search of some flat water - fingers crossed !!!!
